LXFactory is all you could ever wish for in an arts district and a definite must see. Built in the old manufacturing district, this absurdly hip street is a mecca of cafés, bars, art spaces, vintage shops, tattoo studios, yoga studios and music venues. It’s super easy to get to located a few Km from the city, we walked there from Barrio Alto in 30 mins. Every single doorway offers something spectacular so you really can’t go wrong, but I’ve listed some of my favourites below.
Eat
Cantina Lx – Built within a former industrial space, this retro fit canteen sells traditional food with a modern twist.
A praça – Playing the loudest music on the block, this was the liveliest place which was great for atmosphere and cocktails. We ate here, the food was delish but the service was so slow we cancelled the mains.
Café na Fábrica – Easy going with long outdoor tables built for sharing and big groups. The courtyard is decorated with the traditional brightly coloured Portuguese garlands.
It had no name, but lets call it The Little Acai Shack located at the entrance selling juices and Acai bowls surrounded by palm trees.
Coffee
Wish slow coffee house – Just great coffee
Shop
Retro shop – You won’t be able to fit any of the neon signs in your suitcase, but I’m sure you could smuggle some of the cool goods home somehow.
PuraCal – Locally crafted, minimal style homewares
Wish – Beautiful white space concept store with coffee shop attached
LX Flea market – Come on a Sunday morning for all things hipster
